Recently, Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has published their client charter which reads as below :-
As a TAXPAYER, you are entitled to fair and equitable treatment by the Inland Revenue Board in all dealings including:-
Receipt of Form For The Return of Income
INLAND REVENUE BOARD (IRB) will issue forms for the return of income to taxpayers at the end of February each year.
Information
IRB will provide you with information to assist you to comply with the tax laws.
Fairness
You are entitled to be dealt with fairly.
Courtesy
You are entitled to prompt and courteous service from IRB at all times.
Excellent Service
If information given by you is complete and accurate, you will:
(a)Receive the notice of assessment not later than 6 months after the receipt of the return of income.
(b)Receive the refund of income tax overpaid not later than 3 months from the receipt of the application for refund.
To assist the IRB to render excellent service, we need you to :-
(a)Notify the IRB if you are liable to tax;
(b)Request for the form for the return of income not later than 14 April if not as yet received by then;
(c)Complete and file the return of income within 30 days from the date stated in the form;
(d)Declare your correct income;
(e)Provide all information required;
(f)Inform the IRB of any change in address within 3 months from date of change;
(g)Pay your tax on the service of the notice of assessment.
Privacy and Confidentiality
All personal and financial information you provide to the IRB is strictly confidential and will be used only for purposes allowed by the law.
Appeal
You are entitled to appeal against the assessment of tax within 30 days of the assessment.
